Building a Room Over

There has never been a better time to revisit previous loft conversions and extend the space further up to the cubic volume allowance under Permitted Development regulations.

With terraced houses, the allowance is 40 m3. If you live in a semi-detached or detached house, the overall allowance is slightly larger at 50 m3. Please note, however, that Permitted Development rights generally do not apply in Conservation Areas, or if the property is subject to an Article 4 Direction, imposed by the Local Authority.

Build Team are able to advise on all of the above planning matters, and in addition, the costs and feasibility of undertaking the build. Indeed, based on this expertise, we have been instructed this month by clients in Fermor Road SE23, Dault Road SW18 and Myrtle Gardens W7 for room-over additions to existing loft conversions.

If you would like to find out more, please don't hesitate to contact one of the team.
