The scheme was designed and built by Build Team, and required some careful consideration in order to comply with the London Borough of Hounslow's stringent Urban Development Plan (UDP) for Side Return Extensions. Brackley Road is also in close proximity to a number of the borough's 26 conservation areas.

As depicted in the gallery; traditional materials comprising timber-framed sash windows, lead detailing and reclaimed London stock bricks were used in the design and complemented by a modern and contemporary kitchen which our clients sourced themselves. There was also some delicate structural engineering required in order to accommodate the height differential between the front and rear of the property (whilst still allowing the new space to connect with the old) and to ensure the design complied with Hounslow's strict requirements regarding the boundary wall height.

The existing rear bay window was taken down and replaced with thermally-efficient, bespoke timber double glazed windows and doors. An exterior terrace was laid and Aco linear surface drainage set in. All that was left to do was hang the bird box!
