A rear dormer loft conversion, within the usual volume limits, is more often possible under permitted development. Our planning checker is a quick way to see where your own project might sit.

If your house shares a wall with a neighbour, both an extension and a loft conversion can trigger the Party Wall Act, so it’s worth serving notice early for either project. We explain the process on our party wall page.

What it cost and how long it took

Together, the two projects added 60 sqm of new space over 22 weeks of building time, for a combined £105,000 plus VAT.
